Aquí los dejo con algunos audios de la Conferencia de alto nivel de la FAO, el organismo de Naciones Unidas para la alimentación y la agricultura, realizada en Roma la semana pasada. Como ha advertido el organismo el mundo se encuentra con un nuevo peligro por la crisis alimentaria, derivada entre otras razones por la especulación, el uso de los alimentos para los biocombustibles y los tratados de libre comercio que han dejado que los países se especialicen en uno o dos productos sin diversificar el campo. En Colombia sube la papa, en México la tortilla, en Europa el pan. La tesis de David Ricardo de que la "ventaja comparativa" consiste en que cada país se especialice en lo que produce a menor costo, no tuvo en cuenta la especulación y las subvenciones presentándose la actual situación de que los precios de los alimentos suban en vez de bajar. Un panorama de hambruna seria catastrófico, pero mientras Colombia se dedique solo a sembrar en sus campos palma aceitera, café y coca la crisis alimentaria en nuestro país parece asegurada en el corto plazo.
